The Edge Hub does not tolerate modern slavery and is committed to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to minimise the risk of modern slavery taking place anywhere in The Edge Hub, its activities, its supply chains or through its collaborative partners.

The Edge Hub is a technology centre dedicated to innovation, technology and skills, working with individuals, employers and businesses to provide tailored training and upskilling in a hybrid centre.


With access to over 20,000 courses from Google to Microsoft, our training helps to build stronger digital workplaces, upskilling employees and individuals. We offer flexible courses using trained providers to teach specialised skills improving digital knowledge throughout the region. The Edge Hub courses offer alternatives to current training; providing shorter
courses, at varied levels for a reduced price, tailored to the individual to ensure the best outcome.


The new and improved services at The Edge Hub create a more efficient method of teaching technology, fuelling the shortage of digitally skilled employees within the region. The Edge Hub changes existing models to be cheaper, less time-consuming and more sustainable; overall, increasing the efficiency of how technology is taught and approached by individuals looking to upskill.

The Edge Hub and partners are at the forefront of the drive to raise awareness of the need to combat slavery and human trafficking as an institute promoting equality. We believe it is important to continue to raise awareness of slavery not only as a past time but of the reality of modern slavery, including emancipation, social justice and human rights, past and present.


The Edge Hub works with key partners to combat and call for the end to contemporary slavery, working with key partners, including the United Nations, EU, UK Government, Google, AWS and more local partners to combat slavery on a large scale within the technology sector. The Edge Hub uses the most up to date and established sources/ resources to ensure the Modern Slavery Act is maintained and followed throughout the business. The Edge Hub work with cross functional teams of researchers, ethical trade experts, social auditors and business advisers to identify and address modern slavery risks in supply chains.

Our Supply Chains

The Edge Hub purchases works, goods and services from a wide range of suppliers and across a number of categories and is committed to acquiring these in a responsible manner. The Edge Hub is not aware of any modern slavery activities within its operations or supply chain but if any were discovered then it would act to ensure compliance with legislation and its own policies to prevent further abuse. The Edge Hub will continue to work with sector colleagues and others to share best practice and keep up to date on slavery and human trafficking considerations within the supply chain. 2 The Edge Hub has reviewed its procurement documentation and processes to align them with the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and will continue to ensure that they keep pace with developments in this area.


Our Policies on Slavery and Human Trafficking


The Edge Hub is committed to ensuring that there is no modern slavery or human trafficking in its supply chains or in any part of its business. As part of this commitment The Edge Hub has adopted an Anti-Slavery and Human Trafficking Policy. The Edge Hub will assess any instances of non-compliance with its Anti Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Policy on a case-by-case basis and will then tailor remedial action appropriately. The Edge Hub has a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and is determined to behave ethically and with integrity in all its business dealings and relationships. The Edge Hub is committed to transparency and expects the same from its contractors, suppliers and other business partners, and their supply chains. The Edge Hub has updated its terms and conditions of business to require compliance with this policy and the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and will continue to review its contractual templates to address modern slavery where necessary.

Training


To ensure a high level of understanding of the risks of modern slavery and human trafficking in The Edge Hub’s supply chains and its business, The Edge Hub has undertaken a risk assessment and provided detailed training to key members of staff, particularly within the procurement function. Training is also mandatory for all employees who procure goods and services on behalf of The Edge Hub. Guidance on slavery and human trafficking for internal purchasers and staff involved in purchasing from high-risk categories is available. The Edge Hub publicises the Anti-Slavery and Human Trafficking Policy and Procedures (the Policy) and the requirement to produce this statement on an annual basis to all staff.

Our Effectiveness in Combating Slavery and Human Trafficking


The Edge Hub will review the effectiveness of the Policy, training and other measures taken to combat slavery and human trafficking on a periodic basis. This statement is made pursuant to section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and constitutes our Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement for the financial year ending 31st July 2022. This Statement will be reviewed and updated on an annual basis.
